A White Wedding Story in Ibiza

"I can get used to this," I told the Mr while both admiring the early evening sun above the Cala Tarida Beach in Ibiza.

Wintry sunsets overlooking the sea are catnip to both of us, finding that it fuels our creativity, but the allure of warm sunshine at the cusp where summer meets autumn is another universe. If money's no object, I imagine myself living in a Mediterranean or Balearic island for three or six months at a time and indulging my creative and literary pursuits with the only interruption being another round of sangria, cava, or bellini and Aperol spritz demands to be ordered.

The Mr argued that one's muse is still best cajoled by the stillness and solitude of chilly seas and mountains as they had many literary figures. I retorted that nippy outside my usual nippy isn't my idea of a slice of a sybaritic hiatus from my taxable life.

I won.

As mentioned in my post prior to this (click HERE to view), we've been invited to join our friends at their wedding in Ibiza. We've turned it into a mini-break before winter sets in back in the UK. The picturesque setting for the wedding reception was the white-themed Cotton Beach Club complemented by the entourage and guests wearing an all-white ensemble. I wore mint wedges in the church though, before changing into more comfortable white trainers at the reception.

Another couple wed that day, and my camera caught them just in time for their wedding portrait photo shoot.

I have completely forgotten about these since not being able to purchase it when it was released last year, and only thought about it when I decided I should match my white dress with white canvas shoes. Not surprisingly, they're no longer available in the shops. Last unworn pair found on Ebay, and it was my size.

The song's meaning may be opposite to what's perceived by the listening public, but as what Billy Idol wrote and sang,  it was indeed a nice day for a white wedding.

  2. Absolutely stunning - you, the scenery and the club. The photo showing the restaurant seating area looks amazing and I can imagine you all dressed in white camouflaging with the background and furniture would have looked quite striking. Sensible lady taking those Converses, good job they're nice and clean although it seems they made provisions for tired feet with those flip flops! Love what you said here: "I imagine myself living in a Mediterranean or Balearic island for three or six months at a time and indulging my creative and literary pursuits with the only interruption being another round of sangria, cava, or bellini" DITTO! xx
